Whiteboard Invoice Sync is an internal tool built and used by Whiteboard to maintain our own
billing records in QuickBooks Online. It adds completed billable work to our own open invoices so
each entry does not have to be retyped by hand.
It is not a product. It is not distributed, sold, or made available to other businesses, and it
connects only to Whiteboard’s own QuickBooks Online company.
What it does
- Reads customers, products and services, and invoices from Whiteboard’s
QuickBooks Online company. - Writes line items to Whiteboard’s own invoices: a service date, a description
of the work performed, hours, and a rate.
What it does not do
- It does not access bank or credit card feeds, stored payment methods, payroll, or tax filings.
- It does not send invoices, take payments, move money, or change payment status.
- It does not share data with any third party, and it does not sell data.
Connecting
The connection is authorized through Intuit’s standard OAuth 2.0 flow, granted by an authorized
Whiteboard administrator against Whiteboard’s own QuickBooks Online company. No QuickBooks or Intuit
password is ever seen or stored by the tool. The resulting tokens are held on Whiteboard’s own
workstation, in a file restricted to the operating system account that runs the tool, and are not
transmitted anywhere other than to Intuit.
Because this tool serves a single company, there is no sign-up and no customer account. If you
have reached this page looking for a QuickBooks app to install, this is not one.
Disconnecting
Authorization can be withdrawn at any time, from either side:
- From within QuickBooks Online, open the Apps section, select Whiteboard Invoice Sync, and
choose to disconnect it. - From your Intuit account settings, revoke the connected application.
Revoking immediately invalidates the stored tokens. The tool stops working at once and retains no
further access to the company file. Any invoice lines already written stay on the invoices, as normal
accounting records, and can be edited or deleted in QuickBooks Online like any other line.
To have the locally stored tokens destroyed as well, write to
[email protected] and we will remove them.
